Turning Point
The signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty was a major turning point in history because it not only changed Ireland forever, but its effects were felt around the world. The strife in Northern Ireland was important to the U.S. because many of the resources for the IRA came from Irish Americans who sent over money or weapons. The largest and most important result of the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty was the partition. Northern Ireland was separated from Ireland and is now its own country, and not considered part of Ireland. So as you can see, the signing of the Anglo-Irish Treaty was a huge turning point in history.
